Swati Sengupta writes fiction and non-fiction for children, young adults and adults. She has translated a book from Bengali to English.
Her books are Rebellion In Ranchi (Duckbill – Penguin Random House India, 2024), Out of War (Speaking Tiger Books, 2016), Guns On My Red Earth (Rupa, 2013), Half The Field Is Mine (Scholastic, 2015), the Incredible Life series (eight non-fiction books for young readers, 2022–24), Murder In The City (translation, 2018), The Talking Bird (Tulika, 2015) and A Tea Garden Party (Pratham Books, 2021).
She runs a gender workshop series for the young titled The Elephant In The Room. Since 2017, Swati conducted some of her gender sensitization programmes – Dear Boys and Equality Matters – in collaboration with law enforcement agencies like Kolkata Police and West Bengal Police.
Swati enjoys cooking. She lives in Kolkata, India.
